Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Sound Monitor app (herein referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by FineCoder Apps.

1. Audio Data and Microphone Access

The Application requires access to your device's Microphone to measure real-time sound levels (decibels).
CRITICAL PRIVACY NOTICE: All audio processing is done locally on your device. The Application does NOT record, save, or transmit any voice or ambient audio data to our servers or any third parties. The raw audio data is converted into decibel values and immediately discarded from the device's memory.

2. Background Recording (Foreground Service)

The Application uses a Foreground Service to continue monitoring sound levels while the app is in the background or the screen is off. A persistent notification is displayed while this service is active to ensure you are always aware that the microphone is being used. You can stop this service at any time via the "Stop" button in the app or the notification.

3. Data Collection and Usage

The Application collects only the data necessary for its core functionality and user experience:

• User Preferences: Settings such as Dark Mode, Calibration offsets, and "Always On Screen" status are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore.
• Session History: Decibel history and statistics (Min/Max/Avg) are stored in your device's temporary memory for the duration of the recording session.

4. Third-Party Services (Advertising)

The Application uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use certain data (such as your device's Advertising ID) to serve personalized ads.

5. Exported Files

When you use the "Export" feature, the Application creates CSV or Image files. These files are saved strictly to the location you choose using the Android Storage Access Framework. We do not have access to these files once they are saved.

6. Permissions

To function correctly, the Application requests the following permissions:

• RECORD_AUDIO: Required to calculate sound levels.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required to show recording status in the background (Android 13+).
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Required to keep monitoring active when you switch apps.

7. Security

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
