Privacy Policy
Last Updated: MAY 2026
Your privacy is critically important to us. At WiFi File Transfer, we follow a simple principle: your data belongs to you, and we don't want it.
Key Privacy Fact: This app operates entirely on your local network. It does NOT upload your personal files, folder structure, or activity logs to any external cloud servers.
1. Data We Access (Permissions)
To function, the app requires specific permissions on your device:
- Storage/Media Access: Used exclusively to allow you to select a folder and share its contents with your own PC or other devices on your local network.
- Wi-Fi & Network State: Used to determine your local IP address so you can connect your PC to your phone.
- Foreground Service: Allows the file server to stay active while you minimize the app to perform other tasks.
- Notifications: Used to show the server status and provide a quick "Stop" button.
2. Data Collection and Usage
WiFi File Transfer does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
- Files: We do not see, read, or collect the files you transfer. They move directly from your phone to your computer over your private Wi-Fi.
- Logs: The "Transaction Log" seen in the app is stored in temporary memory only and is deleted when the app is closed or when you manually clear it. It is never sent to us.
- Analytics: We do not use any third-party analytics tools that track your behavior.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services which may collect limited data as per their own policies:
- Google AdMob: We use AdMob to display ads. Google may use advertising identifiers to show relevant ads. No personal file data is shared with AdMob.
- Google Play In-App Updates: Used to check if a new version of the app is available to keep your experience secure and up-to-date.
4. Data Security
Because the app creates a local HTTP server, anyone on the same Wi-Fi network who knows your local IP and port could potentially see the files in your shared folder. We recommend only starting the server on trusted, password-protected networks.
5. Children’s Privacy
Our services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
